Carmen Giannattasio possesses the style, technique, range, vocal beauty and presence to number her among the rare breed of dramatic sopranos who excel in the greatest bel canto operas of Rossini, Donizetti and Bellini. Her stage presence has been compared to the great Italian film heroine Anna Magnani by the Telegraph, and declared “a magnificent Femme Fatale”, a “bright star” after her performance of Nedda at ROH by The Times. In 2011, she was the protagonist in Opera-Rara’s Gramophone Award-winning recording of Rossini’s Ermione. Carmen has a busy year ahead performing across the globe, including her debut at Wiener StaatsOper, and at La Scala in Falstaff, her return at Metropolitan with La Traviata alongside Placido Domingo, Verdi’s Requiem at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino under the baton of M.W.Chung.
